Named after Alfred Jarry’s satirical parodic creation, Ubu Roi, who feels as relevant today as he was in fin de siècle France, King Ubu opens with propulsive strings gradually building the drums and harmonies, then introducing the bass line before switching into a straight beats and bass drop. Another dance floor ready track in this run of singles from Basic Rhythm.

Mind Killer pays homage to the Ram Trilogy, Ed Rush & Optical era of the late 90s, early 2000s D&B, with an updated approach to the drums, while also drawing from Musique Concrete and a vocal nod to the inimitable Coil. Mind Killer doesn’t wait around but aims straight for the dance floor with propulsive drums bolstered by the fuzzy momentum of the bass.
